The In Our Hands Contest presented by Humane World for Animals in partnership with Shadow Ace is a skill-based contest in which participants are invited to create a video showcasing their shadow puppet skills in response to Shadow Ace’s call to action in his social posts. Video submissions will be judged to determine one Grand Prize winner.

  1. ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible to participate in the Shadow Ace Challenge (the “Contest” or “Promotion”), you must be:

    • a legal resident of, and physically located in, one of the following countries: Australia, Canada (excluding Quebec), Germany, India, the United Kingdom, the 50 United States or the District of Columbia (the “Eligibility Area”), and
    • at least 18 years of age or have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry (the “Entrant”).

    The Contest is void outside of the Eligibility Area and where restricted or prohibited by law.

    Humane World for Animals, Inc., a 501c3 organization is the sponsor of the Contest (the “Sponsor”). Employees of the Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, suppliers, marketing partners, advertising and promotion agencies, including Marden-Kane, Inc. (the “Administrator”) and their respective officers and directors and any other companies engaged in the development, administration, production, fulfillment or distribution of materials for this Contest (collectively the “Released Parties”), and the immediate families (spouse, parents, children, siblings and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) and persons living in the same households of such persons, are not eligible to enter or win a prize.

    This Contest is conducted in English (which will be given its everyday ordinary meaning). Participation constitutes Entrant's full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and to Sponsor's and/or Administrator's decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent on eligibility verification and compliance with these Official Rules.

  2. CONTEST PERIOD: The Contest begins on May 28, 2025 at 12:00:00 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on June 27, 2025 at 11:59:59 PM ET (the “Promotion Period”). The Administrator runs the official clock for the Contest and will solely determine the time by which an entry is received.

  3. HERE’S HOW TO ENTER: To participate in the Contest you must have internet access, a valid Instagram or TikTok account (each a “Social Media Account”), and your Social Media Account must be set to public. If you do not have a Social Media Account you may create one for free by visiting instagram.com, tiktok.com, or by downloading the respective app on your mobile device, and follow the instructions to create an account. Normal message and data rates charged by an Entrant’s Internet service or mobile provider will apply (if any). Entrant must comply with the terms of service applicable to the social media platform used to participate in the Contest.

    IMPORTANT: You must first complete Steps 1-3 below before going to the Contest website at www.humaneworld-inourhands.org in Step 4 to register for the Contest and submit your Entry.

    1. Follow @boomshadowace and @humaneworldforanimals on Instagram and/or TikTok.
    2. Record a video of your own shadow puppet, using “Solsbury Hill (Humane World for Animals Cover)” by Sia (available in both Instagram and TikTok’s music library) as the background music. You can remake one of the animals in Shadow Ace’s video(s) or create a shadow puppet of your own animal(s). Make sure to review the judging criteria (see Rule #4) prior to creating your video.
    3. Your video can be up to 30 seconds in length; Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any video that is longer than 30 seconds.
    4. Post your video to Instagram or TikTok and include #inourhands and #contest along with tagging @boomshadowace and @humaneworldforanimals.
    5. IMPORTANT: You must register for the Contest at www.humaneworld-inourhands.org (the “Website”) by following the instructions to complete and submit the entry form. You will be required to provide the link to your video on your entry form (“Entry").
    6. Entries must be submitted via the Website and must comply with all applicable Entry Requirements stated below.
    7. Your Social Media Account settings and video must remain public during the Contest Period until the prize is awarded.

    Entry Requirements: Determination of compliance with these Official Rules will be in the sole discretion of the Sponsor/Administrator, whose decisions are final.

    • Entry must be the original work of the Entrant produced for this Contest and must not use any artificial intelligence (AI) to create or assist in the creation of the Entry.
    • Entry (video) must not infringe or violate any copyrights or other rights of any third party, including but not limited to privacy, publicity, trademark or other intellectual property rights.
    • Entry must not contain content that depicts or promotes any dangerous or unlawful behavior or activity.
    • Entry must not in any way disparage Sponsor or any persons or any animals or entities; Entry must not contain offensive words, statements or content (including words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic group); Entry must not in any other way violate applicable federal, state, or local laws and regulations; must not contain illegal content; and must be suitable for presentation in a public forum.
    • Entry must not include real animal products (fur, leather, wool, feathers, silk, etc.) – wearing fur or supporting fur-wearing.
    • Entry must not include wild animal interaction such as lion cub petting, elephant riding, or selfies with wild animals.
    • Entry should not include actions or symbols that would be harmful to animals in any way.
    • If an Entry contains any third parties/person(s) other than the Entrant, Entrant must obtain appropriate consent from the person(s) depicted in the video and must make written copies of such permissions available to the Sponsor upon request.
    • Limit one Entry per person using only one email address throughout the Contest Period. Entries received from any person or email address in excess of the stated limitation will render all such person’s Entries void and ineligible.

    By participating in the Contest, Entrant represents and warrants that (i) the Entry complies with these Official Rules, (ii) Entrant owns or has obtained all necessary rights in the video and materials submitted, and (iii) no part of any Entry violates, infringes or otherwise conflicts in any way with any copyright, trademark or any other right of any third party.

    Sponsor/judges reserve the right to disqualify any Entry that they determine has violated the spirit of the Contest or breached a representation or warranty at any time. Entries that do not comply with the Official Rules, including, without limitation, the above Entry Requirements, including any Entry that refers, depicts or in any way reflects negatively upon the Sponsor, the Contest or any other person, animal, or entity will be disqualified.

    Once an Entry is submitted, the Entry is final and may not be modified by Entrant. Material submitted will not be acknowledged or returned. Proof of submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor. Information collected from Entrant will only be used in a manner consistent with these Official Rules.

  4. JUDGING: Entries received will be judged by a panel of qualified judges to determine the Grand Prize winner. All judging will be based on the following criteria:
    • Creativity and Originality - Does the video showcase a unique artistic vision or inventive use of shadow puppetry to tell a compelling story? (30%)
    • Technical Execution - How well are the shadow puppetry techniques performed, including accuracy, movement, lighting, and overall production quality? (25%)
    • Relevance to Animal Welfare - How clearly and effectively does the video convey a message related to animal welfare, advocacy, or compassion towards animals? (10%)
    • Visual Impression - Is the visual composition engaging and aesthetically striking, using light and shadow in a powerful way? (20%)
    • Overall Impact - Does the video leave a lasting impression, effectively engage the audience, and make strong use of the social platform? (15%)

    The Entry that receives the highest score will be deemed the potential winner. In the event of a tie, tied Entries will be reviewed by a judge determined by the Sponsor who will serve as a tiebreaker and who will reevaluate the Entries according to the judging criteria. Sponsor reserves the right to not award a prize if in its sole discretion it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries. All decisions of the Sponsor and judges are final and binding. Scores will not be revealed for any Entry.

  5. GRAND PRIZE AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE (“ARV”) IN U.S. DOLLARS (“USD”): Prize consists of a 6-day/5-night Humane Journey trip for the winner and one guest to British Columbia (from September 12-17, 2025). Prize includes 5 nights’ accommodations (double occupancy), meals while on the Journey, Sponsor-specified excursions, and transportation to/from excursions (ARV $12,500 USD). In addition, Sponsor will provide a travel cash stipend of $3,500 USD for airfare to/from British Columbia, which will be awarded in the form of a check or ACH bank transfer at Sponsor’s discretion. For cash prize fulfillment via an ACH bank transfer, winner must have a bank account at an institution to which Sponsor/Sponsor’s representative’s bank is permitted and willing to transfer funds, directly or through correspondent bank relationships. Winner will be responsible for making all air travel arrangements to/from Vancouver, British Columbia. The total ARV of the prize is $16,000 USD. The actual value of the prize may vary based on travel industry price fluctuations; any difference in value will not be compensated. All federal, state, local, provincial and other tax liabilities (including income and withholding taxes) are the responsibility of the winner. If winner is a U.S. resident, the winner will receive an IRS form 1099 for the total value of the prize as stated herein. Winner and guest are solely responsible for all other costs and expenses relating to the acceptance and use of the prize not specifically set forth herein, including but not limited to luggage fees, travel documents, additional transportation, souvenirs, and other incidentals and items of a personal nature. Winner and guest are responsible for obtaining travel insurance (and all other forms of insurance) at their option and acknowledge that Sponsor will not obtain or provide any travel or other form of insurance. All prize details not specified in these Official Rules will be determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. Prize consists of only the items specifically listed as part of the prize.

    Additional Prize Disclosures. The components of this prize are subject to change based on local health and safety guidelines at the time of booking. All travelers must possess required travel documents (e.g., valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID, a passport with an expiration date no less than 6 months from the date of departure, a Visa, Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), etc.) prior to travel. Major credit card required at check-in to cover any incidental charges. Winner and guest must travel on the same itinerary. If a winner elects to travel/participate without a guest, no additional compensation will be awarded for the guest portion of prize. Prize may be forfeited if: (a) required travel documents are not obtained for any reason within the time required by the Sponsor; or (b) if any immigration or travel documentation complications (or other events) arise which prohibit the winner from traveling and/or participating in any of the trip activities. The winner is solely responsible for determining and complying with all applicable international/domestic travel procedures and restrictions. The excursions offered are rated as challenging due to rugged terrain; specifics of the Humane Journey package are subject to availability and remain solely at the discretion of the Sponsor. Air travel arrangements to British Columbia must be made by the winner and is subject to availability. Travel restrictions may apply. If the winner is unable to travel after the trip is booked for any reason, no compensation or substitution will be provided in lieu thereof and Sponsor will have no further obligation to such winner. Participation in any trip-related activity is subject to the restrictions and requirements of the organizers, as applicable. If a prize-related activity, in part or in its entirety, is unable to take place as planned for reasons including, but not limited to, scheduling conflicts, venue operation, cancellations, postponements, delays, an event of force majeure (any acts of God, natural catastrophes, public enemies, war, acts of terrorism, civil commotion, riot, strikes or labor difficulties, lockout, judicial or government order, or other requirement of law, or national emergencies or any other cause beyond the Sponsors’ reasonable control), an unforeseeable health event (e.g., pandemic or epidemic), or for any other reason whatsoever, the Sponsor will have no obligation to award compensation in lieu thereof. The Released Parties and/or any other relevant party reserve the right to remove or deny participation to the winner (and/or a guest of winner) who engages in a non-sportsman like or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person at any prize-related venue or activity. In no event will the Released Parties provide any additional compensation to any Entrant other than the prize offered as stated herein.

    No substitutions, cash equivalents, or transfer of prize permitted except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor, who reserves the right where lawful to substitute a prize with one of comparable or greater value. Prize may not be sold, bartered, or exchanged by winner. Sponsor is not responsible for damage or loss of any portion of a prize after it has been delivered to a confirmed winner. Sponsor makes no warranties, and hereby disclaims any and all warranties, expressed or implied, concerning any portion of the prize furnished by third parties in connection with the Contest. Prize may vary from what has been advertised, pictured, etc.

  6. WINNER NOTIFICATION AND CLEARANCE: Prize award is subject to verification of eligibility. The potential winner will be notified by the Administrator via email and will be required to complete, sign and return the following documents: [1] an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability Release, where legal, a Publicity Release, [2] a Travel Release/Questionnaire, and [3] for a U.S. resident winner, an IRS Form W-9 to include potential winner’s Social Security Number, which will be used solely for the purpose of reporting the winner’s prize earnings to the Internal Revenue Service; alternatively, a non-U.S. resident winner will be required to complete a Form W-8BEN (collectively, the “Documents”). The Documents must be returned to the Administrator by the date stated in the notification email or the prize will be forfeited. Winner’s guest must be a legal resident of the Eligibility Area, at least 18 years of age or older or age of majority, possess required travel documents, and will be required to complete and return a Travel Release/Questionnaire. Winner and guest may be required to execute additional documentation (e.g., a waiver and assumption of risk form) prior to participating in a Journey excursion. Sponsor reserves the right to conduct a background check on potential winner and guest; if requested, potential winner and guest must consent to a confidential background check. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify a potential winner for failure to properly authorize the background check, or if a background check reveals that a potential winner has engaged in conduct that could damage the reputation of or reflect unfavorably on the Sponsor or any of the Released Parties, as determined by Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion. Any false statement by an Entrant will result in automatic disqualification. If a potential winner (i) cannot be contacted after a reasonable attempt has been made by the Administrator (as determined in the Sponsor’s sole discretion); or (ii) fails to timely return the required paperwork without alteration and in the form presented by the Administrator; or (iii) refuses the prize; or (iv) the prize or prize notification is rejected or returned as undeliverable, then such potential winner will be disqualified and forfeits all rights to be deemed a winner, and the Entry with the next highest score will be notified, time permitting, at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given, and Sponsor will have no further obligation to that Entrant.
  7. OTHER INFORMATION: All applicable federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. Any attempt by an Entrant to enter the Contest and/or obtain more than the stated number of Entries permitted herein by using multiple/different email addresses, identities, registrations and logins, or any other method, will void that Entrant’s Entries, and that Entrant will be disqualified. Use of any automated entry software is prohibited. The Official Rules prevail should there be any conflict or uncertainty relating to the Promotion based on information or advice provided by any of the Released Parties.
  8. CONDUCT: By entering, Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements and the decisions of the Sponsor and its agents, which are final and binding. The Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual: (a) suspected of tampering with the Entry process or the operation of the Promotion; (b) to be acting in any manner deemed by the Sponsor to be in violation of the Official Rules; or (c) to be acting in any manner deemed by the Sponsor to constitute unsportsmanlike or disruptive behavior, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any attempt by an Entrant or any other individual to deliberately damage any online platform, service or Website, or undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion, is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages and/or other remedies (including without limitation attorney’s fees) from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision.

  9. RELEASE AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: By participating in the Contest, Entrant agrees to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, the other Released Parties, Meta Platforms Inc. and TikTok, from and against any claim or cause of action or liability, including but not limited to claims for personal injury, death, or losses to persons or property, as well as for claims based on publicity rights, defamation, invasion of privacy, copyright infringement, trademark infringement or any other intellectual property-related cause of action, arising out of participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt, use or misuse of any prize awarded or prize-related activity. The Released Parties, Meta Platforms Inc. and TikTok assume no responsibility or liability for (a) any incorrect or inaccurate Entry information, or for any lost, late, illegible, stolen, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, misdirected, faulty, failed, garbled or jumbled electronic data transmissions; (b) any unauthorized access to, destruction or alteration of Entries at any point in the operation of this Promotion; (c) any technical malfunction, failure, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, regardless of cause, with regard to any equipment, systems, networks, lines, satellites, servers, computers, social media sites or providers utilized in any aspect of the operation of the Promotion, or any error or malfunction whether mechanical, human or electronic that may limit a person’s ability to participate in this Contest; (d) inaccessibility or unavailability of the Internet, social media platform or any combination thereof; or (e) any injury or damage to a participant’s or to any other person's computer or mobile device which may be related to or resulting from any attempt to participate in the Promotion or download any materials from/about the Promotion. Released Parties assume no responsibility for undeliverable email messages resulting from any form of active or passive email filtering by a user's Internet service provider and/or email client or for insufficient space in user's email account to receive email. If, for any reason, the Promotion is not able to run through completion for reasons which may include, without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which may corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, including any other factors beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control such as the termination of a social media platform, a Force Majeure (e.g., war, riots, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, blackouts, supply shortages, order of governmental authority,) an “act of God” (e.g., natural disasters, weather, etc.) or an unforeseeable health event (e.g. pandemic or epidemic), then the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest in whole or in part, without further liability to the Entrants or any third parties. In the event the Contest is cancelled, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize from among all available non-suspect Entries received prior to the time of the action or event warranting such cancellation. In no event will Sponsor be obligated to award more prizes than the number of available prizes stated in these Official Rules.

    FOR GERMANY AND THE UK: Nothing in these Official Rules limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by Sponsor’s negligence, or for fraud or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded as a matter of applicable law. Nothing in these Official Rules shall deprive you of the consumer protection rights granted to you by the laws of your country of residence. These limitations and exclusions of liability shall apply equally to the benefit of the Released Parties.

  10. PUBLICITY GRANT/GRANT OF RIGHTS: Entrants producing and submitting Entry materials in connection with this Contest do so without compensation and at their own risk. Submission of an Entry constitutes permission for Sponsor and its agents to use Entrant’s name, likeness and Entry materials for purposes of advertising and trade without further notice and compensation, in any media (now or hereafter devised) worldwide, unless prohibited by law. Entrant will retain ownership of their Entry materials, however, Sponsor and its agents shall have the unrestricted and exclusive right to edit, publish, display, broadcast and/or otherwise use any Entry content without restriction of any kind. Grand Prize winner’s participation in any photographs, audio or video recordings, or other events associated with the Grand Prize trip shall be owned by the Humane World for Animals who may exploit, edit, modify, and distribute the recordings and photographs and all elements of such participation, including, without limitation, the names and likenesses of any persons, locations and content embodied therein, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, in any language, throughout the world, in perpetuity and in any manner, for trade, advertising, promotional, commercial, or any other purposes without further review, notice, approval, consideration, or compensation to the Grand Prize winner or any third party.
  11. USE OF DATA: Personal data provided by Entrants during the course of this Promotion shall be stored in the United States and processed for the purpose of administering the Contest and awarding the prize. All personal data shall be stored and processed in accordance with Sponsor’s privacy policy at https://www.humaneworld.org/en/privacy-policy (see privacy policy at https://hsi.org.au/privacy-policy/ for residents of Australia). By participating in the Promotion, Entrants hereby acknowledge that they have read and accept Sponsor’s privacy policy.
  12. GOVERNING LAW/JURISDICTION: Unless the laws relevant for the domicile of the Entrant provide otherwise, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of participants or Sponsor in connection with the Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Claims may not be resolved through any form of class action. Entrants hereby agree that any disputes, claims, causes of action, or controversies (“Claims”) arising out of or in connection with this Contest shall be resolved by arbitration pursuant to this provision in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules of the American Arbitration Association. All proceedings shall be conducted in the English language. NEITHER PARTY WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO LITIGATE THAT CLAIM IN COURT OR HAVE A JURY TRIAL ON THAT CLAIM. FURTHER, NEITHER SPONSOR NOR ENTRANT WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A REPRESENTATIVE CAPACITY ON BEHALF OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC OR OTHER PERSONS SIMILARLY SITUATED, OR AS A MEMBER OF ANY CLASS OF CLAIMANTS PERTAINING TO ANY CLAIM SUBJECT TO ARBITRATION. EXCEPT AS SET FORTH BELOW, THE ARBITRATOR’S DECISION WILL BE FINAL AND BINDING. NOTE THAT OTHER RIGHTS THAT ENTRANT WOULD HAVE IF ENTRANT WENT TO COURT ALSO MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE IN ARBITRATION. The arbitrator’s authority to resolve Claims is limited to Claims between Sponsor and Entrant alone, and the arbitrator’s authority to make awards is limited to awards to Sponsor and Entrant alone. Furthermore, claims brought by either party against the other may not be joined or consolidated in arbitration with Claims brought by or against any third party, unless agreed to in writing by all parties. No arbitration award or decision will have any preclusive effect as to issues or claims in any dispute with anyone who is not a named party to the arbitration.
  13. COUNTRY SPECIFIC NOTICES: If any provision of these Official Rules is invalid under the law, rules or regulations of a particular country, it will only apply to the extent permitted. In addition to the tax liability disclosures in these Official Rules, Contest winner is subject to abide by the income reporting and, if applicable, the payment of any taxes due per the laws, rules and regulations of the winner’s country of residence. By entering the Contest, Entrants hereby expressly agree and accept that for all that is related to the interpretation, performance and enforcement of these Official Rules, each of them expressly submit themselves to the laws of the United States of America and to the competent courts as determined by the Sponsor in a jurisdiction within the U.S., expressly waiving to any other jurisdiction that could correspond to them by virtue of their present or future domicile or by virtue of any other cause.
  14. SEVERABILITY: If any provision(s) of these Official Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.
  15. WHO WON? The winner will be announced at www.humaneworld-inourhands.org on or about July 31, 2025, or after the winner has been verified. The winner may also be posted on the Sponsor’s social media channels.

This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Meta Platforms Inc. or Tik Tok or any other social media platform.
